Worst Game of the Year

BYU vs Boise Football – 16-21

In a defensive battle that saw a lot of FG’s for BYU and only one offensive touchdown, the Cougars found themselves with the ball with 2:05 left in the game 83 yards away from the end zone. The first play though saw Matt Hadley go for 57 yards off of a short dump pass from Wilson. Over the next two minutes, the Cougars managed to get the ball up to the two yard line with :07 seconds left in the game. Wilson dropped back and instead of throwing the ball out the back of the endzone, Wilson was sacked and the game ended, six feet away from victory.

BYU vs Stanford Final Four Women’s Volleyball – 0-3

After beating Stanford earlier in the season and having a dramatic journey to Minneapolis for the Final Four, BYU was outright dominated against eventual champion Stanford. The Cardinal won every set very comfortable going 25-15, 25-15, 25-18 which if compared to other sports would be like losing three games in football by 28 points or more each time.

Gonzaga vs BYU 2019 Men’s Basketball – 93-63

Starting to look like a better team than earlier in the season, BYU was hoping to be able to hang with the Zags, but outside of a 3-0 lead early, there was never any doubt that Gonzaga was going to run away with the game. The Cougars were down at halftime by 17 never got closer than 14. Most of the second half Gonzaga was up by 24+ and the game ended by them losing by 30.

BYU vs Utah Football – 27-35

This was won before the poll was released. BYU Football was up 20-0 against rival Utah in Salt Lake City. With just over a minute left in the third quarter the Cougars were up 27-7. But like every year for the last decade, Utah found a way to win. The Cougars offense died and Utah’s offense began to look like Oklahoma scoring 28 unanswered points in sixteen minutes, and extending the win streak over BYU eight games.
