Moment of the Year

Elijah Bryant hits game tying three: As part of a seven point comeback in the final minute of the game, Elijah Bryant came off of a high screen by Yoeli Childs and kicked out four feet behind the three point line. TJ Haws hit him in stride and before Bryant even collected the ball he was in his shooting motion as a defender came literally screaming at him as he let the ball go. The shot was perfect and hit the bottom of the net and seconds later the game went to overtime, where BYU won.

Game winning goal against No. 6 Santa Clara

In the music industry they say your best song isn’t your first big song, its the second one which makes you not a one hit wonder. This was the same with BYU women’s soccer as they faced the No. 6 team in the nation Santa Clara for the WCC Championship. Rachel Lyman was just outside the penalty box when she hit the ball at a perfect angle to hit just below the top left corner of the post and above the goalies outreached fingers. The lead let the Cougars play more defensive and secure the title.

Cosmo goes viral… Again

You know that feeling you have when you go into a movie that has great reviews and then you expect too much and the movie is just okay? Yeah that’s what we thought would happen with Cosmo dancing with the Cougarettes. There was no way he could beat his performance from last year right? WRONG. Not only was it as good, if not better, but it went viral enough to get millions of views across social media and youtube AND it led him to be named the Mascot of the Year by ESPN (unofficially a real award).

Mary Lake gets on Sportscenter Top 10 with HUGE dig

Rivalry games make everything better, and Mary Lake decided to have the dig of her life against Utah. Up 7-2 in the second set, BYU Women’s Volleyball was looking the final punch to end the Utes hopes of a comeback. After a Utah spike deflected off a BYU blocker the ball appeared to be headed out of bounds for a Utah point. Somehow Lake dove back and got her hand on the ball sending it straight into the air in time for Lyndie Haddock-Eppich to hit it back over the net to keep the play alive. The play wasn’t over yet as Roni Jones Perry was there to block the spike and win the point for BYU.
