Female Athlete of the Year

Shaylee Gonzales – Basketball

We already covered her, so no reason to review her again.

Roni Jones Perry – Volleyball

When you are the star of the number one ranked team for most of the season, you will probably win athlete of the year. Jones Perry was the heart of the offense scoring 506 kills, over twice as many as the next player (250). She also had twice as many service aces (42) as anyone else. She single handily seemed to take over when they defeated No. 1 Stanford and was the key player in the games against Florida and Texas in the NCAA Tournament.

Shannon Evans – Gymnastics

Shannon Evans became the first Cougar to advance to the NCAA Finals in 14 years. She earned All-American honors posting a 9.900 on her bars routine at the Finals. She also went viral for her floor routine this year for her Mario Brothers themed dance.

Libby Sugg – Softball

If there is a softball name to give someone it would be Libby Sugg, and she has lived up to that name. Last season she hit 11 home runs, had 67 RBI, and hit a .414 mark earning her All-American honors for the team.
