Overall Outlook

The first week of spring ball is finished. For most of us, it is just exciting to be able to talk about football again. For BYU, they are looking into position battles, like already mentioned backup QB, or others such as the running back depth or on the defensive line.

A storyline  to follow will be player position changes. Last season, there were multiple players who made position changes including MLP, Beau Hoge and Dayan Ghanwoloku. So far nothing has come out, but that will likely change, especially with ten QB’s on the roster.

Most of spring ball for the coaches will be to help the players have a knowledge of plays and style, and to get comfortable with players, coaches and reps together.  Kalani Sitake and staff has time to figure the depth, playbook, and style out, however fans will be eager to see the first look at the new Cougars. There will be an open practice for the public on Saturday, March 23 at the old Provo High School field. Games won’t begin until August, but the Cougars will be preparing to open their season against their biggest rival, the Utah Utes.
