Transfers/Leaving the Team

This is the obvious one. Since the 2015 season the following players have left the BYU program to play for other schools, professionally or just leaving the game. It also has the year that they would have graduated.

2015-2016

  • Cooper Ainge (2019)
  • Cory Calvert (2018)
  • Jordan Chapman (2019)
  • Jakob Hartsock (2019)
  • Jake Toolson (Likely 2018)

2016-2017

  • Jamal Aytes (2018)
  • Steven Beo (2020)
  • Davin Guinn (2018)
  • Corbin Kaufusi (2018)
  • Colby Leifson (2020)

2017-2018

  • Ryan Andrus (2020)
  • Kajon Brown (2019)
  • Elijah Bryant (2019)
  • Payton Dastrup (2020)

2018-2019

  • Jahshire Hardnett (2020)
  • Braiden Shaw (Technically right before the season started-2019)
  • ??????????????????

In total that is ten players that would have still be on the team this season had they continued to play. Obviously there were going to be some transfers at some point, but BYU Basketball is not built to take four or five transfers every season. The odd thing is, this is something new for the team. Between the years 2010 and 2012 there were only three transfers total.

The bottom line is, along with the coaching changes, every season has been a huge adjustment with there having to be new leaders ever season when there really shouldn’t have had to be.
