BYU Basketball: Re-Living Jimmermania

The last game BYU Basketball star Jimmer Fredette played in was in the Sweet Sixteen. With this week’s Sweet Sixteen set and Jimmer back in the NBA after three years in China, now is a good time to relive Jimmermania.

Jimmer Fredette played four minutes in his return to the NBA last Saturday against his former team, the Sacramento Kings. Fredette grabbed two rebounds and missed his only shot from the field. The Suns play the Utah Jazz next as Jimmer returns to Utah for his second game back in the NBA.

With it being his first game back in the NBA and with likely only one shootaround with the Suns it can be expected that four minutes will not be the norm for Fredette.

Any BYU fan knows how special his time, specifically his senior year was for BYU Basketball. So why don’t  we take this opportunity to simply re-live “Jimmermania” as any true BYU fan loves doing.

Jimmer’s first three seasons for BYU were good, but nothing too special. His first two seasons Jimmer only averaged 11 points and two rebounds per game. Nothing bad, but nobody saw what would start to happen in his junior season.

As a Junior, Fredette started off hot scoring 49 points against Arizona but then mononucleosis got the best of him and it affected him for a good portion of the season. He still averaged 22 points per game and going into his senior year we expected another great season. But we had no idea how good it would be.
