With Dave Rose leaving BYU Basketball, it is not time to start searching for a new Head Coach and it will probably be one of these five candidates.

On March 26, Head Coach Dave Rose announced his retirement from BYU Basketball. His speech was heartfelt and emotionally and caused all of us think back at some of his greatest moments in this 14 years leading the Cougars.

Although we love to look back at what he did, the team does need to look forward to the future, especially with players perhaps considering to transfer and and recruits needing to decide if BYU is where they still want to come.

Guessing who the next coach will be is like trying to get the perfect bracket during March Madness. You believe that certain candidates should be considered higher than others and then suddenly someone else is hired. This happened with football a few seasons ago. Don’t get me wrong, I love Kalani Sitake and think things are headed in the right direction, but Sitake was not the first guy on most people’s radar.

We are going to break this down in an NCAA bracket form of having the 12 seeds, the 5 seeds, the 3 seeds and the number one overall seed. Similar to the NCAA Tournament, the 12 seeds will be the candidates that many fans would love to see hired but mostly likely won’t be, the 5 seeds will be the sneaky candidates not on people’s radar, the 3 seeds will be good options but still with an outside shot, and the 1 seed will be the most likely candidate.
