BYU Basketball: What is next for Jimmer Fredette?
By Adam Gibby
2. Jimmer plays in the G-League
Fredette regardless of whether he can play in the NBA can make some money in the G-League. Fredette would likely make the base salary of $35,000 plus see a couple of ten day contracts in the NBA that rack in around $106,000 per contract. Granted, that isn’t the kind of salary he would like to have, however it would provide a healthy income along with the shoe deal that he has out in China and likely investments he has elsewhere.
Fredette has already shown that hey can be effective in the G-League winning the All-Star Game MVP and scoring 21.2 points per game in the one season he played for the Manchester Knicks.
The reason he would want to play in the G-League rather than play overseas somewhere is because of his family. Fredette has already expressed that a large part of the reason he wanted to return to the NBA when he did was for family. His second child was just born last week and that is what would make the G-League as more appealing than other leagues.
