95 days now separate us from the start of the BYU Football season against Utah.

Time seems to be slowing down the closer we get to the start of the college football season when BYU and Utah will square off for the first time ever as the first game of the season. Traditionally BYU and Utah have played in the final game of the season but since the 2012 season when BYU went Independent and Utah went to the Pac 12, the Cougars and Utes have traditionally played towards the beginning of the season but never the first game.

The Cougars and Utes as a rivalry are in desperate need of a BYU win. With the Utes winning the past eight games dating back to 2009, the rivalry needs to be more of a… rivalry. Although it seems that just every game has come down to the wire they always fall in favor of the Utes.

BYU Football in recent history has been really good in the first game taking down giants such as Oklahoma, Arizona twice and Nebraska and Cougars fans are now hoping to add Utah to that list.

Today’s BYU Football Top 100 player countdown features a player who made a big impact against Utah. In fact if not for his performance against Utah, he may not even be on the Top 100 list. In fact, if not for his playing, the streak for the Utes would likely be nine games in a row.
