No. 4 Women’s Cross Country

Record: NA

Highest Ranking: 7th

Postseason: Finished 7th at the NCAA Cross Country Championships

Similar to the women’s track team living in the shadow the men’s team, the cross country team did the same thing. Throughout the season, the team was really good, but they were hanging around the 14-20 range in the rankings.

They won most of the meets they competed in, but the times and the competition was shaping up to have the Cougars finish in the 10-15 range nationally. The team peaked at the right time though winning the WCC Championships shocking Portland, and then went on and took 3rd at the NCAA Regional against teams like Texas Tech, Colorado and Utah.

Finally at the NCAA Championships the team ran better than they had all year and took seventh place. Much of the credit can be given to Erica Birk-Jarvis who had actually taken a year off from running to have her son. She was the individual champion in the WCC and took seventh place at Nationals.
