Final Verdict

Fans can still make the argument that 2019 will be the toughest season ever for BYU Football. Honestly, if Boise State and Washington are able to bounce back after losing as many players as they did and continue their dominance, and if USC and Tennessee are able to turn their programs around in one season, then yes it will most definitely be the most tough season ever for BYU.

However, considering that Utah, Boise State, Washington and USC are all home games, and considering that probably only one or two teams will be ranked in the preseason, 2019 suddenly doesn’t look as scary as it did back in 2017 or even parts of 2018.

Again, I want to emphasize, I am not saying it is not a tough schedule, or even a top three hardest schedule ever. In fact, I will go as far to say the first four games of the season are the toughest four game stretch that BYU has ever had to play in, but the rest of the season could be much easier.

There are just too many teams coming off of bad years or rebuilding to know. If every team had the same team as last year, then I would say that yes, it would be the toughest before the season even begins, but they aren’t the same teams. So the final verdict is, we will just have to wait and see how tough it ends up. But to give it the title of “hardest schedule ever” before the season starts is a bit premature.
