The Next BYU Quarterback

We don’t know who the starter will be at this point for BYU Football, but after what Zach Wilson did in 2020, it would be naive of me not to throw a QB on this list. Coming into the 2020 season, Wilson was ranked No. 34 by Pro Football Focus. He was behind players like Layne Hatcher (Ark St), Dustin Crum (Kent St.) and Tanner Morgan (Minn). Yet look what happened.

I’m not sure how much of that to put on Zach, John Beck, Aaron Roderick, Jeff Grimes, Kalani Sitake or anyone else, but if it was Aaron Roderick, BYU QB’s could have a very bright future. What we do know is that Roderick runs a very fun offense that catches the attention of college football fans. Honestly, who doesn’t like to watch a game with five trick plays? With that kind of offense being run and most games on the ESPN networks, the stage is set for a BYU QB to have a spotlight on them.

Am I saying that another QB will have the same level of success as Wilson? Of course not and we shouldn’t expect it, otherwise we will probably just find disappointment. However, if by some chance things line up right, BYU could have another first round QB taken in the next few years.
