BYU Football: Ranking the stadiums BYU will play 2021
By Adam Gibby
No. 3 Lavell Edwards Stadium – BYU
History: 3 Points
Prestige: 2 Points
Rivalry/BYU History: 3 Points (Obviously)
Summary: Whether it is the ROC, Cougartails, Turbulence or Y Mountain in the background, Lavell Edwards Stadium is head and shoulders above stadiums 4-7 on this list. The fact that they aren’t in the top two says a lot about the top two spots on this list.
Lavell Edwards Stadium was built all the way back in 1964 and has seen some historic upsets and heartbreaks. The stadium was changed from Cougar Stadium to Lavell Edwards Stadium in Lavell’s final game by LDS prophet Gordon B. Hinckley.
The QB factory was built on Lavell Edward’s field and a lot of today’s game can be credited to the success that happened in BYU’s home stadium. The only thing keeping the prestige/history ranking down is the lack of big wins by the Cougars. Being a G5, most of BYU’s biggest upsets have come on the road.
