BYU Football: Ranking the stadiums BYU will play 2021
By Adam Gibby
No. 1 The Coliseum – USC
History: 4 Points
Prestige: 3 Points
Rivalry/BYU History: 2 Point
Summary: The Coliseum is one of the most historic stadiums in the nation, including the NFL. Built in 1921, the Colisuem has been home to the following events:
- College Football games since 1923
- 1932 and 1984 Summer Olympics
- Multiple NCAA Track and Field Championships
- Rolling Stones Concert
- Los Angeles Rams Home Stadium
- Super Bowl 1967 and 1971
- 1959 World Series
- Dodgers and Angels MLB played home games periodically
- CONCAF Cup
- St. Louis Rams (2016)
The list could go on and on and that doesn’t even include the fact that USC, one of the most decorated college football programs in the nation plays home games here in front of 77,500 fans (and much more historically).
As far as BYU’s history with the Trojans in the Coliseum, it is limited with only one game being played in 2003 but it was a memorable one against Matt Leinart, Reggie Bush and the rest of that all-time great team. The Cougars actually led in the 4th quarter of that game before the Trojans took over late. The Cougars did win the last meeting between these two schools in 2019 and that will make this game very interesting for both fanbases.
