Jaren Hall

Why he should be the starter

Jaren Hall is clearly the most athletic quarterback on the roster. His speed and agility will help him to avoid pressure in the pocket, pick up extra yards with his feet, and provide a dual-threat that defenses will have to respect which will open up plays for the other offensive weapons. Hall also has experience and showed moments of brilliance against Utah State as well as against South Florida.

Offensive Coordinator Aaron Roderick has also said that he will be tough to beat out if he is healthy . While this does not mean that he will be the starter, it certainly appears that at least in his mind, he has the upper hand going into fall camp.

Why he shouldn’t be the starter

I’ve already written an article explaining why injuries shouldn’t keep a player from starting, however if it truly is a three-man or even two-man race and there needs to be a tiebreaker and injury history will have an effect.

One of the most toughest trials a team team can go through is having to adjust to a new quarterback and their system even within the same offense. The ball is thrown differently, the timing is different, and the overall reads are handled in a different manner. Again I don’t think that injuries should keep Hall from starting, however it would be ridiculous to think that if Hall and another quarterback are viewed on a same level that they would go with the player that has serious injury issues in the past.
