Big 12

Likely Ranking: 4th

Biggest Competition: Texas

The Big 12 has plenty of history with Oklahoma and Texas alone, but there is plenty of talent at other schools as well. Iowa State actually shocked the nation last year winning the regular season Conference Championship and Oklahoma State consistently hangs out in the 15-20 range in the rankings.

BYU Football would do well in this conference, but would have a tough time winning it where they currently are. The Cougars would do very well against the bottom tier of the Big 12 (Kansas, Texas Tech, Baylor, and Kansas State) and would hold their ground against Texas, West Virginia and and TCU. The Cougars would likely lose to the top three teams or at best go 1-2.

If BYU could go 2-1 against the mid-tier teams in the Big 12, the Cougars would have a successful 4th place finish in the conference.

The one bright spot with the Big 12 is that rivalry games carry a lot of weight. If Oklahoma were to lose to Texas and Oklahoma State and if Iowa State and Oklahoma State lost rivalry games, BYU even with two losses could find themselves in a conference championship game, and from there anything could happen.
