BYU Football begins their season in exactly two months on September 4th.

As the light at the end of the tunnel starts to get closer and closer to the start of BYU Football, fans are finally starting to feel that it is nearly the start of the season. But as the season gets closer and closer the biggest questions that remain become more and more relevant.

While there will always be questions about who will emerge as the next big star, how well the team will actually play and whether or not any injuries linger from the last season, this particular season seems to have more questions and less answers than ever before.

I will avoid the obvious ones like who will be the starting quarterback, who will get major NIL deals and will BYU beat Utah since everyone has already asked and go in depth on those questions. But here are three that are nearly equally as important, but for the most part not talked about.

Will NIL be a Distraction?

The new NIL rules are in full effect and for the most part have been talked about but not really seen. There have been some players around the country getting endorsment deals, but for the most part it kind of feels like waiting to go to Disneyland your whole life just to find out that it is 100 degrees outside and the line for Peter Pan is two hours long.

That will change as the summer goes on and the big question is, will it be a distraction? With this being brand new, what happens when a player has a photoshoot with a car dealership twenty minutes after practice? Will they be as focused or will their mind be on which pose to use? Or what if a player has 100 autographs to give out. Will they do that when could be otherwise watching film?

Only time will tell and I hope that the players don’t let the potential money and endorsements get in front of the success that they can have in 2021.
