Boise State
Can BYU make it three years in a row? This year, probably. The Bronco’s have another head coach in Andy Avalos who will be in his first ever head coaching position. While Avalos is a promising young coach, he is unproven and inexperienced.
Also, not to say that the other Boise State coaches haven’t been great, but ever since Chris Peterson left, the Broncos have progressively regressed. While they are still really good and a yearly favorite to win the Mountain West Championship, the dominance of Boise State may be coming to an end.
The team returns 16 starters including quarterback Hank Bachmeier, four offensive linemen and most of the defensive line. The Broncos do lose both cornerbacks which should be a great thing for Gunner Romney, the Nacua brothers and Neil Pau’u. While Avalos was a defensive coordinator for much of the Broncos’ run in the early 2010’s, the BYU offense should be too much for Boise State for a second year in a row.
