BYU Football: 2021 opponent Power Rankings
By Adam Gibby
BYU Football has beaten Boise State for two straight years in a row. While winning three wouldn’t mean that BYU now owns the series and is the better team, it does in many ways feel like a three peat would put the Cougars in a position to start to dominate the rivalry.
At worst, a third win a row would start to turn the tables in BYU’s favor as being the most dominant G5 team west of Texas. That is a big deal.
As conferences begin to potentially start to talk about expanding, BYU wants to be the most attractive option as possible. Although they have a lot of work to do to catch up with Cincinnati and UCF (even though they beat them last year), they can at least put themselves on a similar level, and that starts with convincingly showing they are better than Boise State.
A loss to Boise State would do the exact opposite and show that Boise State is still at minimum the same level as BYU.
This rivalry is starting to really heat up between these two teams, and according to you all on Twitter, the Broncos are more of rival than Utah State (80%-20%).
