Yes, a team that didn’t win a single game last year is second inthe Power Rankings. The reason for this has everything to do with 2020.

2020’s schedule has led so many national writers and fans to believe that BYU really wasn’t that good last year. We all know that wasn’t true considering BYU beat their opponents by an average score of 44-15. That won’t change the national narrative though until BYU goes out and makes a statement in 2021.

Unfortunately for BYU Football the Arizona game isn’t No. 2 on this list because it is a huge opponent, a great game or even the biggest game of week. The reason it is so high is for all of the wrong reasons.

In the case that BYU somehow loses this game, BYU’s 2020 success will officially be marked down as a fluke. While it is more important to look forward then back, 2020 set a strong core for BYU Football. For the first time in years BYU was being talked about and respected. The Cougars need to build off of that and it starts with Arizona.
