BYU Football: Why did BYU target Cade Fennegan and Nick Billoups?
By Adam Gibby
3. Fennegan wasn’t Happy at Boise State
Boise State just got a brand new Head Coach. With that comes change. Fennegan was recruited for a specific purpose to fit a need that the Broncos needed. With Andy Avalos now in charge, maybe that need is no longer needed. Perhaps Fennegan saw that the offense wasn’t going to fit his play style so he decided to leave.
While it is naive to say that all LDS players want to play for BYU (see Utah, Stanford, Boise State and Virginia), we do know that Fennegan’s father, Garth Fennegan, played for the Cougars and so perhaps it was always a dream for Fennegan to follow his father’s footsteps and play for the Cougars, regardless of better opportunities at smaller schools.

What do you think? Why did the Cougars offer a fifth quarterback a scholarship opportunity? Why did Fennegan choose BYU when he likely could have gone to any MWC school and been at worst the backup? Will Billoups play at another position? Let us know in the comments!
