BYU Football: Projecting every game in 2021
By Adam Gibby
Utah
Is this finally the year? The good news is that both teams should come into this matchup pretty prepared. The Utes open up with a really good FCS Weber State team that would love nothing more than to spoil the Utes season. While the Utes should win this game decisively, they will probably not have the luxury of being able to prepare for BYU for an extra week.
I think that this is going to be a very, very low scoring game. Utah doesn’t appear to be an offensive juggernaut, but their defense will be the best BYU will face all year. This game may have Ryan Rhekow punt more than he did all of last season and most of the game will take place between the two twenty five yard lines.
The game will come down to turnovers. In recent years that has been BYU’s doom, but with so many offensive weapons this year, it won’t be as much of an issue. BYU’s slight edge in the offense will be just enough to give the Cougars a win.
Prediction: BYU 14 Utah 13
Record: 2-0
Ranking Range: 20-24
