BYU Football finds itself as a really attractive candidate as the Big 12 explores expansion options.

One week ago today we were talking about how the Big 12 was just about done especially with the announcement of the new “Alliance” between teams in the Big 10, ACC and Pac 12. But as the Alliance turned out to be nothing more than a therapy session of those three conferences telling themselves they were still friends and okay after the SEC took Oklahoma and Texas and the Pac 12 announced they would not be expanding, the Big 12 is very much alive.

However, to survive, the Big 12 has to expand and there is no way around that. As candidates are calling the Big 12 with much interest, the Big 12 seems more interested in teams like BYU and UCF who could help build their brand.

But how is expansion going to really help build the Big 12 to being a strong conference again? Can they do it with 10 teams? How about 12 or 16?
