Top 20 Ranking
Last week, we saw Iowa jump from 10 to five in the rankings, a jump that is almost impossible to make. Why did they make that jump? They beat their second ranked opponent in a row while other teams were busy playing teams like North Charleston Tech Prairie.
This upcoming week if we look at 22 teams ranked ahead of BYU, nine of them are playing lower lever G5 schools and there are two other Top 25 matchups. While BYU won’t jump teams already in the Top 15 for playing a G5 program, it is very realistic to see a situation where BYU jumps No. 20 Arkansas who is playing Georgia Southern or even No. 16 Coastal Carolina who faces Buffalo.
Depending on the kind of win that BYU can pull off, it isn’t inconceivable to imagine a ranking in the No. 16-18 range with games against South Florida and Utah State on deck.
In other words, if BYU Football can take care of Arizona State, we could very realistically see BYU be a top 10-12 team when they face Boise State at the start of October.
