This time last year, we were starting to talk about BYU Football playing in a New Year Six Bowl game.

BYU Football was expected to be 1-1 today. No matter how blue goggled you may be, there is no way around the fact that BYU was not favored to beat Utah last Saturday night. While we all hoped that the Cougars would be 2-0, the hope was so small that no dreams about the rest of the season were even being discussed.

Yet, here we are.

As I re-watched the game with the perspective of an analyst and not a fan, I realized that BYU absolutely dominated the game. Sure, there were some moments that Utah could have grabbed the momentum and perhaps changed the game, but just about every single time that there was a key moment, BYU showed up and made the play.

As I watch other teams around the country lose games they were supposed to win, as well as see future opponents of BYU perhaps not meet their expectations, it is becoming clear that BY now has a path to a New Year Six Bowl, and it isn’t that crazy.
