Opponents

BYU Football plays just about every single big game at home this year. Utah, Arizona State, Boise State and Virginia very well could end up being four of the five toughest opponents the Cougars will face this year, and they are all at home. While it is still a stretch to expect the Cougars to go 4-0 against these opponents, when we matchup each individual opponent one at a time, BYU may be the better team in each game.

In other words, there isn’t a single matchup at home that we look at and say that BYU will have a tough time matching up with.

As far as the road games against Baylor, Washington State, Georgia Southern and USC, at least three of the four are not living up to their preseason hype. The Wazzu Cougars lost to Utah State in week one of the season. Georgia Southern is not looking like a Sun Belt contender and the USC Trojans just fired their head coach and at least at the moment seem to be focused on 2022. Baylor has played decent to this point but wasn’t really expected to do much in the Big 12 this year.

Again, there isn’t a game on the road that really makes me sweat unless USC is able to get things turned around real quick.
