Climate/Weather: The weather is calling for calm mid sixties tomorrow in Waco. While humidity may be a slight issue, with the lower temperature, it likely won’t have much of an effect. Humidity is something that Texas and other southern states like to use to their advantage early in the season, but that won’t be the case here. For that reason, no advantage.
Crowd: How many BYU fans will be at the game? It sort of feels like the game in Las Vegas was the big “fan game” that everyone was travelling to, but at the same time, there are a lot of members of the church that live in Texas and the surrounding area. Tickets to this game were expensive, so in all likelihood it will be 10-1 ratio of Baylor fans to BYU fans. Advantage Baylor
Special Teams: Baylor averages 44.9 yards per punt. BYU is above 50 yards. Neither team really has allowed kick returns or punt returns this year. Both kickers have made all but one kick. In other words, this is pretty tight, but the punt average gives BYU the slight advantage.
Motivation: Both teams are 5-1 and hoping to make this a special season. Baylor is riding the momentum wave of a Big 12 beat down against West Virginia while the Cougars are still wondering how they fumbled the game away to Boise State. The Cougars will want to show that last week was a fluke and will come out swinging. Depending on how Baylor responds, there will likely be a big momentum swing early in the game. Honestly, I can’t say who will be more motivated in this game, I just know both teams will be very motivated to play well.
