BYU Football: Predicting the College Football Rankings
By Adam Gibby
Like it or not, what Alabama has done this season has been pretty impressive. The Crimson Tide have beaten Miami, Arkansas, Florida, Ole Miss, Mississippi State and Tennessee, who have all spent time ranked at some point this season. Granted some of those teams have fallen off the face of the earth since then (perhaps in part because of Bama), but the point remains the same that Alabama has been really good this season, and clearly the best of the one loss teams.
Who saw Michigan State as the second best team in the country? Not me.
Yet here we are. Michigan State has done exactly what they need to do to win every game this season. They have dominated the bad teams and taken care of business against the good teams. The Spartans don’t run the prettiest offense, have the most dominate defense or have really anything that pops off the page, yet they continue to win.
Amongst the undefeated P5 teams of Georgia and Oklahoma, the Spartans clearly have played better and more consistent than Oklahoma which is why I believe the Committee will rank them second.
If there is one undebatable ranking on this list, it is that Georgia will be the No. 1 ranked team in the first rankings. The Bulldogs defense has been dominant and even with a loss later in the year, Georgia should have no issue making it to the College Football Playoff.
