BYU Football was not helped out at all in this week’s Lawless Republic College Football Top 25.

BYU Football didn’t need a miracle to be in the New Year Six Bowl Game discussion, but they may need one now. After what appeared to be every game going against BYU’s chances on Saturday, the Cougars are going to have to rely on a now very narrow combination of wins to get into a NY6.

Overall this week was free of any drama or surprising games. The biggest game of the week was No. 13 Baylor taking down No. 8 Oklahoma, however that was not a huge shock as it seems all year the Sooners have been just escaping with wins against bad competition.

The Big 12 is turning into a very interesting conference with potentially three teams all finishing with 7-2 conference records (if OU beats Oklahoma State). In that case, it would come down to point differential as all three teams would be 1-1 against each other.

Despite there not being a ton of great upsets this week, there were some fun moments including a hail-mary last second win for South Dakota, a 62 yard game winning field goal for Texas Tech, and a 24 point comeback by Mississippi State to take down Auburn.

In the Lawless Republic rankings, we do not take prestige or blueblood rankings into account. Because of that, you will notice that my rankings don’t match up perfectly or even very closely in some cases with the national rankings like the AP or Coaches Poll.

For the entire 2021 season I will put out my Top 25 poll, whether BYU Football is in it or not. Again, my polls are based off of what I see, not what the AP/Coaches Poll says. In fact, I don’t even reference them while making my ranking.
