
Format of the Playoff
The format would be very similar to the NCAA Tournament except that teams 14-20 have a play in game to get into the normal tournament. For a visual of what that would look like see the tweet below.
Interest in bowl games (and some extent the regular season) has plummeted with players opting out and the media ignoring them outside of the Playoff.

While this model would receive criticism for having too many games, the FCS model already follows this exact model and you don’t hear them up in arms complaining about too many games.
Of the 24 teams in the tournament, only eight would likely play two games (an occasional bottom seed may upset moving that up to nine teams), and only four would play three games.
Yes, the Champion and runner up would both end up playing four games, but that is two teams out of 130, or about 1.7% of teams in college football.
