Games to Keep: at Hawaii (13th game), Utah, Stanford, FCS team

There is a unique rule that allows teams to play a 13th game if they travel and play at Hawaii. BYU should absolutely take advantage of this for two reasons. First, it is Hawaii and who doesn’t want to go to Hawaii. Second, and more importantly, to get to a bowl game, BYU needs six wins. Even if they only have a 60% of beating the Rainbow Warriors, that is a 60% chance that they only need to go 5-7 to be bowl eligible.

Again, Utah and an FCS school should be scheduled for the same reasons as in 2024. Because BYU in this situation would get that 13th game (and a likely win), I think it would be in their best interest to get another big brand like Stanford to come play. This game probably wouldn’t happen as the Cougars would have cancelled their game the year before, but who knows.

Fifth Game if Available: at Utah State

I don’t like the idea of BYU playing Utah State in Ogden (er…Logan), BUT if there is a fifth available game, this would be the time to do it. It would also be good sportsmanship to play there a year after them coming to Provo.
