Masen Wake

At the end of last season Masen Wake was finally be utilized the way that I believe he should be. Against UAB, Wake had three receptions for 55 yards and was utilized as a lead blocker in short yard situations.

Nobody can deny that when Wake gets the ball everyone pays just a little bit more attention. Whether it is him running over defenders, hurdling safeties or literally turning backwards to slam a USC linebacker to the ground, everyone loves when Wake touches the ball.

With the offense already being as loaded as it is, and with the addition of Houston Heimuli, one has to wonder where the reps will come from. But if I’m Aaron Roderick and Kalani Sitake, I am finding the ways to get the rock to him.

One thing I’d love to see is trick plays where the ball goes to Wake. This would play into Wake’s advantage because normally on trick plays there is only one defender that stays near the receiver. If Wake is able to get the ball in the open and only have one defender within ten yards, I like those odds.

What do you think? Who will be the breakout player this season for BYU?
