BYU Basketball players Gideon George and Caleb Lohner announced that they are entering the transfer portal.

A few months ago BYU Basketball was ranked No. 12 in the country and was projected as high as a four seed in the NCAA Tournament. Today, the Cougars are down eight players from last season, coming off a home loss in the NIG, and are still dealing with the realization that assistant coach Chris Burgess is leaving for Utah.

A knee-jerk reaction would be to believe that the sky is falling for Mark Pope as he enters his fourth season as the head coach.

And it may be.

At the same time, maybe this is just an essential restart for the program as they prepare to go to the Big 12.
