Andy Reid may have found the next Taysom Hill for the Kansas City Chiefs

Justin Fields could be to the Kansas City Chiefs what Taysom Hill has been to the New Orleans Saints

The Kansas City Chiefs just acquired Justin Fields and added them to their quarterbacks room for a sixth-round draft pick. This is especially significant given that the NFL's best, Patrick Mahomes, may not be ready for the season's kickoff this fall, as he heals from a torn ACL. Fields will likely then get most of the first-team reps this offseason and could possibly start a few games in September for the Chiefs.

Head coach Andy Reid is known for getting the best from his quarterbacks. Whether it be Patrick Mahomes, Donovan McNabb, Alex Smith, or Michael Vick. While Fields could follow in Vick's footsteps as a mobile quarterback reviving his career, there is also a clear path for Fields and Kansas City once Mahomes has made his return. That blueprint for Coach Reid is provided by another BYU legend, Taysom Hill.

It would be good for all parties involved if the Chiefs tried to use Fields like the New Orleans Saints have the Human Swiss Army Knife, Taysom Hill. Hill is the only player in the Super Bowl Era with over 1,000 yards passing, rushing, and receiving. In his nine years with the Saints, Hill has 12 passing touchdowns, 34 rushing touchdowns, and 11 receiving touchdowns.

If the Chiefs are able to implement this wrinkle into their offense this offseason, it will do a lot for their offense. The quarterback running game will be available while they also protect their franchise quarterback.

The Chiefs' struggles last year led to Mahomes having a career-high in rushing yards and rushing touchdowns despite the injury. Fields, Reid, and the Chiefs have the chance to not just have a steady backup who can start a few games for an injured star. They have the chance to add another wrinkle to their already potent offense, and for Fields to revive his career.

This BYU Buckeye would love nothing more than to see these BYU and Ohio State legends thrive and win together at the highest level of football.
