BYU's elite backfield of Bear Bachmeier and LJ Marin gets a lot of attention from defenses and the media. Every bit of it is earned. Just as important to BYU's offense and to Bachmeier and Martin are receivers Parker Kingston and Chase Roberts. Those who stayed up Friday night to watch BYU beat West Virginia got to see for themselves that one of the best receiver duos in college football resides in Provo, Utah.
Roberts and Kingston had the ball a combined 10 times, for 272 yards and two total touchdowns. West Virginia as a team only had 291 total yards and three touchdowns. Roberts and Kingston are a young quarterback's best friends, and they will make him look good and, more importantly, help him and the offense grow. Of his 1,045 passing yards, 611 of them have been to Roberts and Kingston.
If I had a dollar for every time BYU has run that play in the Sitake Era, I could pay for season tickets and a new computer that doesn't slow me down when I'm trying to keep up with the games! 😂 https://t.co/aOj4s7jOXM

This was hopefully a breakout game for Kingston in 2025. He came into the game with 14 catches for 105 yards. Against WVU, he had four catches for 111 yards and two total touchdowns. Roberts had four catches for 161 yards. His season totals are 20 catches for 395 yards and three touchdowns. He has had a catch in 31 straight games for BYU. Roberts has over 2,000 career receiving yards
Nice way to respond to throwing your first interception! https://t.co/fnMMWBaJyb

The Cougars will need this kind of game to be commonplace going forward as their schedule gets more difficult by the week. Next, they'll travel to Tucson to take on Arizona before returning to Provo for the grudge match against Utah. Their success will improve things for LJ Martin and the running game, as well as Bear Bachmeier and the BYU offense as a whole. The sky is the limit for the BYU passing game, the offense, and the entire team.
