Delaney Gibb was a Top 50 recruit in the 2024 class when she committed to BYU, and she has been even better than head coach Amber Whiting could've imagined. Especially as a pairing with sophomore Amari Whiting. "They are fun to play and coach together, they just play off each other really well.," she shared.

This backcourt duo is headlined by star Canadian freshman Delaney Gibb. She plays well beyond her 19 years, and has the skills that even some upperclassmen have yet to develop. Her ability to control the floor and command an offense is nearly unmatched. Let's take a look at some of her stats and accomplishments this season.

Gibb's Season Stats

In 20 games this season, Delaney is averaging 17.3 points, a mark that has her inside the Top 10 scorers in the Big 12. She is also 4th in the country among freshmen. Take a look at this video from Delaney's career high 26-point performance against Washington State. Her versatility on offense has proved to be a valuable weapon for the Cougars. Gibb is shooting 48% from the field and 41.4% from beyond the arc.

She isn't just a scorer, Delaney is also averaging 5.0 rebounds and 3.8 assists per game. She has propelled BYU women's basketball to some huge wins this season, including victories over Rice, UVU, Washington State and Houston.

Accolades and Accomplishments

Delaney is an incredibly accomplished player, even before arriving at BYU. She was named Alberta's Miss Basketball twice, participated in the Biosteel All-Canadian basketball game twice, won back-to-back Provincial Championships, and played for the U16, U17, and U19 Canadian National Team (the latter two at the World Championship).

Quite the trophy case at just 19 years old, and she continues to add to her collection of accolades here in Provo. She was just named Big 12 Freshmen of the Week for the third consecutive week.

It has been an absolute treat to watch Delaney do her thing this season for the Cougars, and hopefully she continues to find success at this level and the next. Tune in to watch the Cougars and Gibb take on Arizona State this Saturday on ESPN+.
