Following their poorest performance of 2025 against Texas Tech, BYU’s offense rebounded with a resounding win over TCU. The Cougars’ offensive performance was fantastic. Aside from needing to settle for a field goal on their opening drive, this was the most complete performance from the offense of this season. They put up 447 yards of offense, and with the help of the defense and special teams, put up 44 points.

Bachmeier and the passing game got 296 yards, over 80 more than their 213.6 yards per game average. The rushing offense was a little under their 200 yards per game. LJ Martin led the way, and BYU rushed for 151 yards. Their 44 points were 11 over their average of 33 per game, which was 34th in the nation coming into the game.

As it has all season, this offense has thrived or died with a Bear and a man from Canutillo, Texas. Bear Bachmeier had another day of his Bear Raid offense. He was 23 of 33 for 296 yards and a touchdown passing. Bear also had 10 carries for 59 yards and a touchdown running the football. Bachmeier was slinging the ball with a purpose. You could tell by how he was playing that he was determined to be better than he was the week before. That’s a quality of a special player.

Why is BYU’s offense the Bear Raid? This was Bachmeier’s 7th game this season with at least one passing and one rushing touchdown. It was his eighth multi-touchdown game. This was his ninth straight game with at least 200 yards passing and rushing. He scored his tenth rushing touchdown, which ties BYU’s record for a quarterback in a single season. He shares that record with Zach Wilson, Steve Young, and Taysom Hill for the QB program record.

Just as important for BYU as their Bear is their bulldozer from the Lone Star State. LJ Martin had 21 carries for 88 yards and a touchdown; he also had four catches for 34 yards, giving him 122 total yards for the game. It was his seventh game of over 100 total yards this season. Martin is such a threat that he and Bachmeier fuel each other. If you try to defend one, the other makes you pay. This 44-13 win was just what Bachmeier, Martin, and BYU needed to get things moving in the right direction again.
