BYU has officially finished its first regular season in the Big 12. The women's basketball team finished tenth in the regular season with a 16-15 overall record and a 6-12 Big 12 record.

After opening Big 12 play with four straight losses, the Cougars got their first conference win against fellow newcomer Cincinnati at home. BYU got their first conference win over a veteran in the Big 12 against Texas Tech.

The Cougars got their biggest win of the season when they beat No. 18 Baylor 78-66 at home. This started a three-game win streak for the Cougars to help them climb out of the bottom of the Big 12.

BYU was able to finish the season with six conference wins just above the Cincinnati Bearcats. By finishing tenth in the Big 12, the Cougars were able to sneak away with a first-round bye, the only newcomer to not play ing the first round of the Big 12 Women's Tournament.

The Cougars won't be in the NCAA Women's Tournament unless they can win the Big 12 Women's Tournament. The first-round bye will help BYU, but they will have a lot of work to do and have to go through quite a few good teams to accomplish that feat.

BYU fans are going to have to wait till Friday to watch their team play in the Big 12 Tournament for the first time.
