Three BYU players received invitations to the 2024 NFL Scouting Combine coming up at the end of the month in Indianapolis. The three players invited to the Combine are quarterback Kedon Slovis, offensive lineman Kingsley Suamataia, and punter Ryan Rehkow.
Suamataia was the only BYU player to be invited and participate in the 2024 Senior Bowl.
The NFL Scouting Combine is the last chance for players unless they have a pro day after the Combine, to show NFL teams their talents and skills. The Combine will run from February 26 through March 4 at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Indiana. This multi-day event will put 321 players through a series of physical, mental, and medical tests to see if they are fit to play at the pro level.
Suamataia leads this BYU draft class as he is projected to be on the cusp of going in the first round, but if not then definitely in the second round. Suamataia is one of the top 10 tackles heading into the draft and as we all know with the number of quarterbacks getting injured this season in the NFL, offensive lineman might be a popular selection in this year's draft.
Slovis is a quarterback who is ranked in the top 10 for the position, but will most likely go in the later rounds and start out as a backup. However, as Brock Purdy has now all proven to us, backups are very important and somehow always end up getting thier chance.
While punters are not typically taken in the draft and go as undrafted free agents, Rehkow getting an invitation to the draft means he is one of the top special teams players in the country, which includes punters, kickers, and long snappers.
BYU fans can watch thier favorite former Cougars fight to prove they belong on an NFL later this month on NFL Network or the NFL App.
