Running back

Starter: Squally Canada

Backups/In The Mix: KJ Hall, Riley Burt, Ula Tolutau, Kavika Fonua, Trey Dye

Canada will likely get the bulk of the carries in 2017, but a number of Cougars will contribute. Each of these guys does something well (Burt is solid all-around, Tolutau is a bruiser, Fonua is very athletic and Dye is a good pass catcher), so that’s good. The bad? Limited game experience. I think Burt or Hall has the best chance of becoming the No. 2 back, but it wouldn’t surprise me if each of these players has specific roles in 2017.

Burt or Hall becomes the No. 2, Tolutau is short-yardage and goal line, Fonua and Dye mix in sporadically. That may be the ideal mix, but these guys still have fall camp to potential separate themselves from the pack.
