Davis Wade Stadium

Where: Starksville, Mississippi

Capacity: 61,337

BYU football’s all-time record: 1-0 (2001, 41-38 win vs. Mississippi State)

BYU’s only previous trip to Starksville ended with a 25-yard Matt Payne field goal with four seconds to play to send the No. 7 Cougars to a 12-0 record.

However, most fans will remember the trip for two reasons.

  1. The game was moved to Dec. 1 after the terrorist attacks on Sept. 11.
  2. Luke Staley‘s broken leg on the final drive of the game.

Despite the win, that game haunts Cougar fans. Does the game at Hawaii end differently with Staley? Does BYU bust the BCS?

Regardless of that, the Cougars will have a chance to prove themselves and exact a bit of revenge in the heart of SEC territory on Oct. 14.
