Reason No. 3: Langi Fits With New England

Langi just seems like a perfect fit for the Patriots. They can groom him and coach him up to replace Ninkovich – and Langi may end up being better.

He’s a better athlete than Ninkovich and he’s better in pass coverage. That’s not to downplay Ninkovich in the slightest – he’s been a really important cog in New England’s defense – but Langi has a higher ceiling.

If they can coach him up (and bulk him up some), then he can fill the same hybrid role that Ninkovich has had. Rush the passer from the edge, drop back and play outside linebacker, fake the blitz and drop into zone coverage.

If it seems like Langi wouldn’t be able to do that, just remember he’s already done it for two seasons with BYU football.

We’ll see what happens this weekend at the draft, but don’t be surprised if Langi dons a blue and white jersey by the end of the NFL Draft.
