BYU football is retiring jersey No. 6
We covered this in-depth here, but we’ll touch on it again now.
In honor of quarterbacks Marc Wilson and Robbie Bosco, and running back Luke Staley, BYU will be retiring No. 6.
The ceremony will be at halftime during the Wisconsin game on Saturday, September 16.
Holmoe made the announcement, and later BYU issued a press release.
“Having your jersey retired at BYU is the ultimate honor reserved for the elite student-athletes who distinguished themselves in athletic competition, in the classroom and in the community,” he said. “Marc, Robbie and Luke were tremendous athletes who were instrumental in establishing and adding to the great tradition of BYU football.”
The takeaways
Really cool gesture to retire No. 6. All three men are certainly deserving of the honor.
But, what’s more important to me, is the fact that BYU is attempting to reestablish a relationship with Staley. He was pretty bitter after leaving Provo, but it’s nice to see that some old wounds may be healing.
