Dennis Pitta’s No. 32

Dennis Pitta’s BYU football career is one of the most impressive by a tight end.

Pitta played in Provo from 2004, 2007-09, racking up three First Team All-Mountain West honors and he was named a consensus All-American in 2009.

For his career, Pitta caught 221 passes for 2,901 yards and 21 touchdowns.

In my estimation, the only other BYU tight end that’s even in the discussion for best ever is Gordon Hudson. But his career numbers are slightly behind Pitta’s (178 receptions, 2,484 yards, 22 touchdowns).

At the very least, it was be a nice feel-good story after Pitta’s NFL career was cut drastically short due to numerous hip injuries.
