The rest of schedule is better than last year

Last season, after starting the season 1-3, Boise State was the only team that the Cougars played that ended up with a winning record.

Teams that appeared to be big games (Michigan State and Mississippi State) ended up being teams that really struggled.

This season, it appears that the Cougars could potentially still play five teams that will end up going to a bowl game. Boise State, Mississippi State, Utah State, Hawaii and Fresno State are all projected to go on to win at least 6 games by the FPI system.

If BYU Football can beat four or five teams that end up going to a bowl game, would that be better than last season?

Last season, Toledo and Mississippi State (with a 5-7 record) were the only teams that BYU beat that ended up going to a bowl game. To add to that, the Cougars lost to UCLA who did not end up going to a bowl game.

Now I am not saying that BYU football is going to win out from here on out, in fact, I do not believe that is going to happen. However, if the Cougars can get three or four wins versus teams that go to bowl games and don’t lose to any teams who don’t go to a bowl game, that is nothing to be ashamed of.
