No. 2: Yoeli Childs

If for nothing else, BYU basketball fans need to be excited to watch Yoeli Childs play. I know the Cougars lost Eric Mika. I know that you don’t lose your best player and get better.

But Yoeli Childs is legit.

We’ve seen it during the exhibition games – and that’s going to continue that level of play throughout the season. I think he’ll make up for the production lost from Mika’s departure, and he’s going to establish himself as one of the better players in the country.

Granted, because he plays in the WCC, he won’t become a household name. But BYU basketball fans understand how good the WCC is. And among talented players on St. Mary’s and Gonzaga, Childs will stand out.

He’s going to be a double-double machine, with range as a shooter. The sky is the limit for the former four-star recruit.
