BYU basketball: Five reasons to be excited for hoops season

No. 3: No expectations

It seems that, by and large, there aren’t really any expectations for this BYU basketball team. Nick Emery may get suspended, Gonzaga and St. Mary’s are powerhouses and the Cougars are very young.

But I actually think the lack of expectations will make for a more entertaining season.

Basically, BYU basketball is just playing with house money. No fan expects to win the WCC. Sure, there’s a hope that the Cougars can make the NCAA Tournament, but if the team falls to Princeton on the road, all is not lost.

For me, all I want is for the team to place itself third in the conference. Beat all the WCC teams not named Gonzaga or St. Mary’s.
