2019

The 2019 home schedule may not be the best top-to-bottom future schedule, but it certainly has some top-shelf opponents.

The schedule next year will consist of:

  • Utah
  • USC
  • Washington
  • Boise State
  • Liberty
  • Idaho State

Those last two games drag down the overall strength of the 2019 home schedule, but man will those first four be fun ones.

The Cougars will start the season hosting the Holy War. That’s still a game that should be played on the last week of the season (like in 2018), but playing it as the opener is the second-best option.

Then come the two west coast powerhouses. Washington has become a perennial Top 15 team, and that shouldn’t change in 2019. BYU travels to play the Huskies this season, and a lopsided result wouldn’t be much of a surprise. The Cougars could have a decent shot at revenge next year.

Then there’s USC. Enough said. You can’t get a much bigger game than that.

In the fourth game, our neighbors to the farther north invade LaVell Edwards Stadium, in what has become one of the best annual games that the Cougars play.

Since Boise State and BYU began playing annually in 2012, the total score of all six games combined is 158-141 for the Broncos. Two games have been decided by one point.

Even with the games against Liberty and Idaho State, the 2019 home schedule will be a major upgrade over the 2018 one.
