2020

The 2020 home slate isn’t finished yet, but it’s almost there. With the recent news that Missouri and BYU will move their game from October 2020 to November 2020, it means that eleven of the twelve games are scheduled.

There’s still one home game left to go, most likely against an FCS team. With the five that we know, though, this could be BYU’s best overall schedule of independence. Maybe the best ever period.

Those five games are:

  • Michigan State
  • Missouri
  • Utah State
  • Houston
  • San Diego State

This schedule doesn’t have the upper-tier power that the 2019 schedule has, but there’s not a dud on that list.

Michigan State is still a premier program, and their turnaround in 2017 proved that. They’ll be the marquee team to invade Provo.

Then there’s Missouri. They may not be a top-tier SEC team, but they’re still an SEC team. Getting teams from that conference to visit LaVell Edwards Stadium is rare.

There’s the in-state game against the Aggies, followed by two of the best Group of Five programs in the country.

Tom Herman build Houston into an excellent program, although it remains to be seen if Major Applewhite can continue that success.

San Diego State has quietly become the second best program in the Mountain West Conference, behind Boise State. Plus, it’s always fun to play a fan base that despises BYU.

Even if that sixth home game is against an FCS team, the 2020 slate will draw fans to every game.
