Team Fredette tips off in The Basketball Tournament on Saturday, reuniting former BYU Basketball teammates Jimmer Fredette, Brandon Davies, and Charles Abouo.

The reunion is finally here for three former BYU Basketball stars.

On Saturday, Jimmer Fredette, Brandon Davies, and Charles Abouo will take the court for Team Fredette in the first round of The Basketball Tournament.

It’s the first time the three former teammates will play in a competitive game together since BYU’s 2010-11 Sweet Sixteen team.

Fredette has spent the last two seasons playing professionally in China, while Davies just finished a championship season in Lithuania. Abouo spent last season playing with Fos Provence in France’s LNB Pro A league.

The Cougar alumni are playing for the $2 million championship prize, and Jimmer is also playing to impress NBA scouts in an attempt to return to the best basketball league in the world.

Team Fredette will take on No. 15 seed Peoria All Stars, who beat No. 18 seed West Coast Ronin 85-82 on Friday evening. Jimmer’s team was given a No. 2 seed in the Midwest Regional, giving them a first-round game against a play-in winner.

Their first TBT game is Saturday at 12:00pm ET, and fans can catch it on ESPN. Any fans near Columbus, Ohio can see the game in person at The Capital Center on the Capital University campus.

If Team Fredette wins on Saturday, they’ll play a second round game on Sunday. It’ll also be at 12:00pm ET, and also on ESPN, against the winner of No. 7 seed Zoo Crew (Pitt) and No. 10 seed Jackson TN Underdawgs. A win in that one will send the team to Georgia for the Super 16 on Friday.

For Jimmer’s team to take home the $2 million prize, they’ll likely have to take down Overseas Elite in the championship game. Overseas Elite has won the tournament the last three years and they’re the favorite to win it this year.

Last year Davies and Abouo played on Team Fredette, but Jimmer didn’t. The team lost in the first round to Team Utah 100-97 on a last-second three-pointer.

Things are different this year.

Team Utah already fell in the first round to Few Good Men, made up of players from another BYU rival: Gonzaga.

Plus, this year Team Fredette has Jimmer.
